Data Scientist, Computational Biology

Position Summary

The Scientist, Computational Biology will play a key role in Rapalogix’s growing R&D function by centralizing, analyzing, and interpreting multi-modal datasets across preclinical, clinical, and consumer studies.

This role will focus on building and maintaining analytical pipelines, applying predictive modeling to biological data, and partnering closely with scientific leadership to generate insights that inform product strategy and development.\

Unlike traditional research positions, this is a hands-on, cross-functional role that combines technical analysis, biological interpretation, and experimental design. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, translational environment, contributing directly to how Rapalogix connects biology, data, and product innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate and manage diverse datasets (omics, imaging, molecular assays, clinical outcomes, and consumer data) to generate unified, analyzable data structures.

• Design experiments for relevant function, including endpoint selection, success criteria, and analysis planning for new preclinical and consumer studies.

• Build, maintain, and optimize reproducible analysis pipelines; ensure data provenance, documentation, and version control.

• Conduct statistical and predictive modeling to link biological mechanisms to clinical and consumer outcomes.

• Create technical visualizations and reports that clearly communicate insights to R&D leadership and cross-functional partners.

• Support alignment between experimental design and data collection to ensure scientific and operational consistency.

• Partner with internal stakeholders to prepare evidence packages that inform formulation, product iteration, and claims development.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or a related field (postdoctoral or equivalent industry experience preferred).

• 2-5 years of experience integrating and analyzing complex biological datasets (e.g., omics, imaging, functional assays, or clinical/consumer data).

• Strong proficiency in Python or R, and experience with notebooks, version control, and reproducible workflows.

• Experience in designing or analyzing preclinical studies and translating biological findings into actionable insights.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to synthesize technical data into clear, scientifically sound outputs.

• Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high-growth, fast-moving environment.

Preferred

• Background in skin biology, dermatology, or longevity research.

• Experience with consumer science data, A/B testing, or behavioral datasets.

• Familiarity with basic data engineering and dashboarding (e.g., SQL, workflow orchestration, or data visualization tools).

• Prior experience in an early-stage biotech, consumer health, or startup environment.

Compensation

• Base Salary: $95,000-$115,000 (commensurate with experience)

• Bonus: Annual bonus target tied to performance

• Equity: Competitive early-stage equity package

Benefits

• 16 Company holidays and unlimited vacation policy

• Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance with fully employer-paid options for employees

• Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

• Flexible spending accounts and health savings account

• Adoption assistance

• Short & long-term disability coverage

• Basic life & AD&D insurance, plus voluntary life insurance
